If you sync your device the dictionaries will be replaced by the original dictionaries, to avoid that you have two options:
  • Patch the firmware and enable the patch `Change dicthtml strings to micthtml`.
  • To add a new dictionary on your device see here.

Can please someone help me, and convert a dictionary in mobi format to the kobo format?

I really need it, but I am not able to do it myself (python...).
No chance.

I could send the mobi file through email or put it on dropbox.

If someone could help me with this?

I installed the original dicthtml-ja.zip file and it wasn't recognized as japanese dictionary within the Kobo reader. But it triggered the download of a new official japanese dictionary:

dicthtml-jaxxdjs.zip

If someone is interested in this new file, I can send it too.

You should not be sending any of Kobo's dictionaries to anyone. They are under copyright. The can be downloaded from Kobo using the latest firmware.

Reviving an old thread...

Trying to find the link to download the official English to Traditional Chinese dictionary and English to Simplified Chinese dictionary from Kobo...

Following the original post, using the direct link for the dictionaries http://download.kobobooks.com/ereader/dictionaries followed by the dictionary zip file name but trying various combinations of dicthtml-en-zh.zip, dicthtml-en-cn.zip, etc. but no match.

Can anyone help? For some reason (I suspect because I am sideloaded), I could not download the dictionaries directly into my Libra, even though I was able to download the default English dictionary with no problem even in sideloaded mode. I want to use the stock dictionaries from Kobo rather than third-party custom ones. So frustrating.

I also use sideload mode, and I was able to download dictionaries by ticking the boxes for the languages I wanted and then syncing. That doesn't work on your end?

It worked for the English dictionary only, but not for the others. I think something went wrong.

If anyone is interested, I've updated the links in the first message in the List of Official Kobo Dictionaries (v3) thread to work with the current URLs. Oddly most of the download links did not need the v3 in the link but some of them did.

As far as I can tell, the 29 dictionaries all download though since the small Japanese dictionary seems to need a manual install since the Japanese dictionary download on my Sage downloads the large Japanese dictionary.
