[THEME] CALIBRE Monstre - beta
Hi all,
After using calibre for a long time, and thinking about doing this for quite a qhile, here's a little christmas gift. A flat color, stylized theme, based off the lovely icons by iconmonstr. Calibre Monstr (beta) Instalation, for the moment is quite simple, just browse to the calibre install dir and replace everything. Do backup if you want to revert, or you'll have to reinstall. You'll probably lose all icons on every update so do note that . While doing this I've made a little document taking note of the used icons, some of the repeated ones, and highlighted where some places could get a new icon - since my edits don't really fit with some reused material. Hopefully this may help Kovid in taking note of some icon changes and optimizations. Calibre Monstr - Icon List I'm also ataching the source Adobe Illustrator Files for anyone who wants to reuse them. Calibre Monstr - AI Source NOTE: That this is a work in progress and some icons are still missing (edit book), and there are many optimizations and some icon changes still to be done. |

The proper location for User icons is in the configuration folder, that way Calibre updates doesn't stomp your 'theme' when updated
<Calibre config folder>\resources\images <make path if not there Use the exact file names |

See Sticky: Drop-in Icon Replacement Sets
You can customize settings in the configuration folder, without putting them in the install folder -- this overrides the defaults and persists between updates. And you may want to post a link to this thread there, that way the sticky becomes an index of custom icon sets. Thanks for your contribution. |

I've been using the Monstre icon theme for a while now and it's cool. Nifty feature, nice add-ons.
Buuuut.... Has anyone else noticed that the up and down button icons in Monstre are reversed? Or is that some subtle hipster thing I just don't get? arrow-up.png points down: arrow-down.png points up: (Originally didn't plan to necro this thread, but Kovid suggested it.) |

But not everybody's going to know how to do that and I thought the author(artist? creator?) might want to fix it. |

Hello,
I started using Caibre and one of the first things I made was changing the icon set to Monstre (which is really nice, thanks). But I found a little glitch — icon "Remove Books" did not change, even it exists in Monstre set. I tried to find how to repair it but did not succeed (I have not find the Monstre icons images in Calibre). Can someone help? Thanks. |

The filename must be EXACTLY the same (case as well as spelling)

On Windows, the images are located in this Qt resources file: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\calibre\icons-xxx.rcc Then I found this tool, which can decompile .rcc files, and saw this: and this: Which means there's no remove_books.png in this specific icon pack. However you can choose any icon you like and place it in Code:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\calibre\resources\images remove_books.png I prefer the classic icon, attached below. |

I've attached the classic icon in zip format, as I suspect png images get some compression when attached the usual way, and lose the transparency:
