The reasons I decided to post in Times New Roman: (1) I like the look of a serif typeface over a san serif typeface and specifically Times New Roman, (2) Times New Roman is a somewhat neutral typeface without bad connotations (I'm looking at you Comic Sans and Papyrus), and (3) it is more readable that the default typeface.

Sadly, that is in your opinion. I already have my default web page font set to my preferred font. And Times New Roman is not a great font for reading a web page (IMNSHO).

I agree completely. It has too little contrast and reading webpages set in it makes my eyes seriously hurt.

My preferred font for the web is Tahoma.
