Translations in de.po

In the file de.po are translations that do not work in searches.

#: /home/kovid/work/calibre/src/calibre/library/caches.py:397
msgid "thismonth"
msgstr "in diesem Monat"

#: /home/kovid/work/calibre/src/calibre/library/caches.py:400
#: /home/kovid/work/calibre/src/calibre/library/caches.py:401
msgid "daysago"
msgstr "vor Tagen"

The search: last_modified:>"in diesem monat" gives no result.
Is it possible that in searches no spaces are allowed?
in that case it could be changed in:
old: in diesem Monat New: diesemMonat
old: vor Tagen New: vorTagen

but it's also possible that I do something wrong.

First, you are putting the quote marks in the wrong place. To quote a value in searches, the opening quote goes after the colon, as in last_modified:">in diesem monat"

However, even after doing that the searches won't work. The problem is the capital letters in the translated string. The code (well, OK, I) did not account for this possibility.

I have submitted a fix for the capital letter problem. While there, I also added the possibility to use values that are never translated: _today, _yesterday, _daysago, _thismonth. These changes will be available in the next release of calibre.

A hint on the translations, the possibility of using an underscore and how to find out the exact translated words should go in the manual. They are kind of hard to guess...
